The Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) WHS Spring 2026 invites you to submit an abstract for consideration to be presented as a poster at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC, April 8-April 12, 2026. Limit abstracts to a 250-to-350-word count and divide it into the following sections: introduction, methods, results, and discussion. Abstracts submitted by December 12, 2025, may be eligible for the following benefits and/or awards that correspond to the selected abstract presentation categories indicated by the abstract submitter during the submission process:
The First-to-Podium Presentation category is reserved exclusively for work that is being presented for the first time. Only truly original, practice-enhancing research, emerging data, or novel innovations that have not been presented, published, posted, or shared in any scientific, educational, or public forum are eligible for consideration.
To maintain the integrity of this high-visibility category and to respect the valuable time and expertise of our clinician reviewers, the following requirements will be enforced:
Any submission entered into the First-to-Podium category that does not meet all eligibility criteria will be declined without an opportunity to resubmit.
This policy ensures fairness in the review process and upholds the standard of excellence expected by the conference. Our reviewers—who are clinicians volunteering their time and expertise—evaluate each submission with great care. We ask all submitters to honor that commitment by adhering strictly to these guidelines.
Embargo Note: Abstracts chosen by the Scientific Selection Committee for First-to-Podium presentation are embargoed until the start of the session in which they are featured taking place on April 9, 2026.
Oral presentations will feature the highest-scoring abstracts. Primary contacts (submitter) of these abstracts will be notified of selection for Oral Presentation by the acceptance/decline deadline. Each oral abstract presenter will have 10 minutes to present key results of their research and for Q&A time. Abstracts selected for oral presentation will be notified individually. Oral presenters are also invited to present their abstract, in poster form, during the poster session if they desire.
Posters are exhibited in the Poster Hall on a bulletin board measuring 4 feet in height and 8 feet in width. The printed posters in the Poster Hall will be available for viewing during all Poster Hall hours. Digital ePosters will be available to view on multimedia screens placed throughout the conference space in the mobile app.
If a First-to-Podium Presentation Only or an Oral Presentation Only abstract is not chosen for an oral presentation, the abstract will be declined. If there is any chance you would like to be considered for Poster Presentation, if not accepted as First-to-Podium or Oral Presentation, select the following category during the submission process: Poster Presentation if Not Selected for First-to-Podium or Oral.
Selected poster presenters will give a 5-minute presentation of their poster including Q&A with the audience. Moderators will monitor questions from the audience after each presentation. The interaction is meant to be collegial, not critical, with the goal of attendees learning from the author’s experience and project. More information about RAPID FIRE: Poster Talks can be found here.
Submitted abstracts will be reviewed and scored based upon the specific review criteria indicated for each of the respective submission category, as outlined: Submission Category Review Criteria.
