Mr. Michael Seymour joined ORSIF in 2015 and served as Director of Advocacy Programs and Managing Author of the ORSIF Economic Study (2017). He is currently a member of ORSIF’s Board of Directors.
With over 45 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Mr. Seymour worked as a consultant and contractor for Federal OSHA since 1979, became an employee in 1999, and retired in 2012. As the first Director of OSHA’s Office of Physical Hazards, he contributed to the development of many OSHA standards, including Ergonomics and Ionizing Radiation. He also served as Director of OSHA’s Office of Technological Feasibility and Acting Deputy Director of OSHA’s Directorate of Standards and Guidance.
Mr. Seymour is active in developing consensus standards for occupational health and safety management. He is a member of the US Delegation for ISO Technical Committee TC-283 (ISO 45001) and the ANSI Z10 Committee. He serves on the Chair’s Advisor Committee for both organizations and as Chairperson of the Small Business Committees for both ANSI Z10 and ISO TC-283.
