Zelma Chiesa Fuxench

Dr Chiesa Fuxench is an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She is a board-certified dermatologist whose clinical work focuses on general dermatology and inflammatory disease, with a specific focus in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Dr Fuxench received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Puerto Rico (Magna Cum Laude) and her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine (Magna Cum Laude). Dr Chiesa Fuxench completed an internship in internal medicine at the University District Hospital in San Juan and a dermatology residency at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Dr Chiesa Fuxench’s research work is focused on the epidemiology and genetics of inflammatory skin diseases, primarily atopic dermatitis, and she is actively involved in clinical trials in atopic dermatitis. She is also a member of multiple professional societies and organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, Society for Investigative Dermatology, American Medical Association, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the Puerto Rico Society of Dermatology, among others.
