Founder and Director, Jaywalker Lodge
Bob Ferguson is the owner and founder of Jaywalker Lodge in Carbondale, CO; and Alpha Behavioral Health in Austin, Texas. Prior to launching Jaywalker Lodge in 2005, Bob served for over a decade in a variety of community leadership and outreach roles at Hazelden Foundation in Minnesota; Promises Treatment Centers in Malibu and West LA; and at Crossroads Centre in Antigua. Over the past 18 years at Jaywalker Lodge and Alpha BH, Bob conceived and implemented The Open Community Model of Care ™ – an alumni and peer-directed approach designed to transition patients from residential treatment into real-life recovery.
Bob reclaimed a former fraternity house adjacent to the University of Texas, Austin, and in 2017 he opened Alpha Behavioral Health as transitional living program for students in recovery. He has also served as Strategic Advisor for Driftwood Recovery, a preeminent private residential addiction, co-occurring mental health, and pain management treatment program located in Driftwood, Texas since 2018.
Bob has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) since 2011. Currently, he serves as NAATP’s Board Chair; and is also on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Recovery, Science and Education (FoRSE.) On a local/regional level, Bob has served on the Board of Directors for the past 12 years at A Way Out, an Aspen-based 501c3 providing crisis referrals and treatment scholarships for families and residents in Western Colorado.
Bob, his wife Andi (along with their two high-energy bulldogs) divide their time between Aspen, CO and Hanalei, HI. An avid ice hockey, golf, and outrigger ocean canoe enthusiast, Bob stays busy as a grateful participant in his own recovery from addiction, which began – one day at a time – on Feb. 12, 1992
