Vladimir Maletic, MD, is Clinical Professor of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. He is also a Consulting Associate in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr Maletic earned his MD and a master’s degree in neurobiology from the University of Belgrade, Serbia. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, followed by a residency in child psychiatry at Duke University. Dr Maletic is board certified in psychiatry and neurology as well as child and adolescent psychiatry.
Dr Maletic is a member of several professional organizations, including the Southern Psychiatric Association and the American College of Psychiatrists. His clinical and research interests include the neurobiology of schizophrenia, mood disorders, pain, anxiety and bipolar disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and the regulation of sleep and wakefulness.
Dr Maletic has authored and coauthored 2 books, several book chapters, and numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented several hundred times at conferences and meetings, both nationally and internationally.
