Dr. Seo is a tenured Full Professor at Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (IU SPH-B). He is a Fellow and Past President (2014-2015) of the American Academy of Health Behavior. His research centers around addictive behavior and comorbid mental health problems. Recent research focuses on community-based interventions to reduce opioid overdose deaths.
He has published more than 160 articles, the vast majority of them published in high impact-factor peer-reviewed journals. His research has been supported by more than two-dozen extramural grants. He is leading a DHHS-funded MACRO-B project (https://macro-b.org/) and serving as Founding Director of the Advancing Substance Use and Addiction Research Group (ASA).
He regularly teaches multivariate and multilevel statistics for graduate students at IU SPH-B and has received the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award six times.
